Meet Chantel Hunt – IGS Canada Representative
In 2011, after a twelve-year career in the field of Biotechnology, I discovered a new passion when I brought home a toy poodle named Maggie. Maggie ignited my interest in dog grooming, leading me to enroll in a grooming course at the local college. Later that same year, I founded deTails Dog Grooming.
As my knowledge and experience grew, so did my desire to excel in the field. In 2014, I began competing, and by 2017, I had earned my Master Groomer designation with the National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA), followed by CPPS certification in Canada.
What began as a small, home-based business has now expanded into two successful locations.
Education remains a cornerstone of my professional journey, as I firmly believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit. I am currently a Level Four Certified Dermatological Groomer with DAATA certification. My deep interest in skin and coat health has profoundly influenced my grooming approach.
Holistic grooming is central to my practice. It encompasses not only the physical appearance of the pet but also their overall health and emotional wellbeing. Equally important is the wellbeing of the groomer. My goal is always to create a positive, healthy, and supportive experience for both the pet and the professional.

IGS Canada Joins the Groomer’s Health Campaign 2026
IGS Canada is proud to take part in the Groomer’s Health Campaign 2026, an international initiative dedicated to improving the physical, emotional, and professional wellbeing of groomers worldwide.
We warmly invite all Canadian groomers to participate by completing the official health and wellness questionnaire.
Please note that your participation is completely anonymous and that your answers will remain confidential and used solely for research and awareness purposes.
At the end of the questionnaire, you will have the option to leave your email address if you wish to receive the final results of the campaign and be informed about future wellbeing initiatives. This information will be stored separately and will not be linked to your answers in any way.
Your voice matters and by sharing your experience, you help us build a clearer picture of the challenges faced by grooming professionals in Canada. Together, we can raise awareness, promote healthier work environments, and advance support systems tailored to our industry.
Let’s make grooming better — for pets and for the people who care for them.
